Bowling Green State University is a public university founded in 1910 in Bowling Green, Ohio. They are member of the NCAA, competing in Division One Athletics for all sports. Additionally, they have held membership in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) since 1952. Their main rival in the University of Toledo.

The Mid-American Conference is an NCAA Division I Athletic Conference that was created in 1946 and is based in Cleveland, Ohio. The MAC is currently comprised of twelve member schools across five states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and Ohio). Jon Steinbrecher is the current Commissioner of the Conference. Additionally, the MAC sponsors twenty-three different sports (11 for men's teams and 12 for women's teams).
