Before heading off for SOAR today, I went over to the Sebo Center to collect the leftover drinks I forgot to get from yesterday. I also restocked the Athletic Director and Administrators fridges to accommodate their requests and let Theby know to have a case of water sent to the main desk. Around noon, I headed over to the student union for another day selling Falcon Fanatics Memberships. We sold eleven memberships and connected with about fifteen other students during our day today. We packed everything up for the holiday weekend and went back to the office to drop off an empty cooler that we no longer needed. We all wished each other a safe holiday weekend and headed home to enjoy a much needed five day break.

This morning I arrived at 11 a.m. to gather drinks to take over to the Sebo Center for another faculty meeting. I dropped the drinks off outside the conference room before leaving for another day at SOAR. We sold another nine memberships today to incoming students and conversed with another twenty-five perspective clients. Several people signed up for the club because they heard from their friends about the fan club and wanted to be a part of something with their friends. It was nice to see that our sales spiked because of our hard work and dedication. At 2:30 p.m. we packed up our gear and put it back into storage and headed home for the day.
Today was another day spent down at the student union. We sold seven memberships today and connected with another fifteen potential clients while working at SOAR. This was a slow day for us as several of the incoming students have already come to orientation.
Today was the final day of SOAR for the week, so it was another busy day talking with students. We only managed to sell five memberships today, but we were able to connect with twenty students who seemed very interested in join the club. We packed up after three short hours of work and headed home for the weekend.
Once again, we spent SOAR inside today. This was one of our busiest days to date as we sold twelve memberships and connected with another forty potential members. We answered questions about what the OSU/BGSU raffle guaranteed them and directed them to the webpage where they could purchase a raffle ticket for $5 each. At the end of the day, we turned in membership dues to the Ticketing Office and sent them an updated version of the Falcon Fanatics Excel file so the new members could be added to the organization database.
Today was another day spent selling Falcon Fanatics memberships at SOAR. We decided to move our table so that way we were next to the Ticketing table. We sold eight memberships today and connected with another thirty potential clients in three short hours. While we were there, Kellan and I discussed how we got started in sports and what we want to achieve out of our internship. We also talked about the recent NBA news and the Derrick Rose trade reshaping the NBA landscape.
Today was a day spent back in the office. It was a fairly slow day as we didn’t have much to work on since no sports are on-campus with it being summer break. Theby arrived back from vacation and asked us how SOAR was going. We provided him with the list of our new members and sent those over to the ticketing office. He asked us to give a mock-interview with him acting as a client. He suggested ideas on how to entice students to buy a membership and then left for some meetings. I caught up on some paperwork around the office and spent the rest of the time working on updating my website with my experiences to date since he had nothing else for me to work on.
Today was another day spent working at SOAR; however, this time we spent the day inside due to the inclement weather. We connected with fifty students and managed to sell memberships to ten of them. After seeing our sales spike by staying inside, we made the executive decision to continue selling inside for the remaining SOAR dates. We also were able to answer students’ questions easier by directing and ticketing questions to the ticketing table next to us. We packed up around 2:30 p.m. and headed home for the weekend as there were no more SOAR dates for the week and Theby was still on vacation.
Over the weekend, Kellan sent me a list of all the new members they sold memberships to on Friday, so I entered those names into an excel file this morning. There were twenty names on the list, so I sent the list off to David to send to ticketing to have them uploaded into the organizational database. Kellan helped me load additional drinks into a cooler to hand out to our clients and we headed over to the student union to put them into the storage closet. After lunch, we headed back to the Intern Office and organized it to compensate for the new shipment of bandanas and shirts to be used for the first Volleyball game. David was out of the office again today, but requested that Kellan and I help Ed with the Men’s Soccer Marketing Plan as he was missing some charts and attendance numbers to finalize the plan. Afterwards, I searched for new promotional ideas online and send those ideas off to Theby before leaving for the day.
Today was another day spent working SOAR. The weather was nice for us once again, so we sold everything outside. It was a slow day as not many incoming students were on campus today. We sold only two memberships today and connected with maybe another fifteen potential clients. It wasn’t the greatest day for us, but we figured that even the best salesmen have some slow days here and there. We started packing everything up around 230 and I headed home for the weekend as I had tomorrow off.
With David being out of the office for a family vacation, he requested that Kellan and I supply drinks to the Sebo Center for a faculty and staff meeting. We took 100 waters and 100 assorted drinks over to the facility and headed off to the student union for another day of SOAR. With the weather being nice, we set-up the tent and sold memberships outside. We found a few footballs and Frisbees and through those around to entice students to come over and see what all the fuss was all about. By the end of the day, we had connected with an additional 40 students from yesterday and sold memberships to another 6 students. We packed everything up around 3:00 p.m. and I headed back to the office to collect the leftover drinks from the meeting before heading home for the day.
Today was a big day at BGSU as some of the incoming freshmen were on campus for the first day of orientation. We spent the entire time outside the Bowen-Thompson Student Union selling Falcon Fanatics memberships to these students. Theby brought us two boxes of 500 business cards to distribute to potential clients and told us to entice the students by explaining that the club has a raffle ongoing for two free tickets to travel with the football team to the game against Ohio State. We used this tactic to explain to students that one of the few ways to guarantee them a ticket to the game was to win the raffle though the club. All in all, we sold four memberships and connected with another 25 potential clients during the three short hours we worked. We considered this a success as the club gained new members today.
Today at the office, David had us continue cleaning out the storage closet to ensure that there was enough space to store the new promotional gear in. We then headed back to the Intern Office and started sorting through the drawers, cleaning out all the junk and outdated paperwork that no longer pertains to the schools promotions. David requested that I go through the office computer and back-up all the files on his account so the computer could be cleaned up later in the week by ITS. Theby then sent Kellan and I off to drive around campus to start updating the restaurant list for potential schedule distribution.
Today, David requested the Kellan and I gather up drinks and a tent to be used for Freshman Orientation. We packed up the truck and moved everything over to the Bowen-Thompson Student Union and placed the items into storage at the facility. We headed back to the office where David began talking to us about the ongoing Baylor University Football Investigation. We had a long talk and he began to explain to us the cultural differences between a Public and Private University. He explained that at BGSU, they have a non-tolerance for any violence or sexually related crimes and any violation of this policy results in immediate and indefinite suspension from the team. He also explained that BGSU mandates all teams to attend a Title IX training during the season and they bring in speakers talking about what you should do if you ever see an assault happening.
When I arrived this morning to the office, David requested that I help him clean out the storage closet. We went down to the end of the hallway and began throwing away old, broken promotional items and found the Falcon Fanatics T-Shirts we needed for next week. We took those shirts down to the Intern Office and started separating them by size. I then pulled 100 shirts out of the boxes (20 smalls, 40 mediums, 20 larges, and 20 extra-larges) to be sold to incoming student at Freshman Orientation this month. Before I left for the day, I brought back the table, chairs, and leftover promotional items from the Baseball Stadium as the season has officially concluded.
