Just like yesterday, the three of us continued working on our music project. I elected to create an Excel file to help us sort the songs easier and to record when it would be appropriate to play certain songs. Theby stopped by to check on our progress before heading off to yet another meeting. We took a short break where we ventured outside to check on the progress of the turf installation before continuing on our project. We all called it quits and headed home around 2 p.m.

Today I continued working on the music project from yesterday. Kellan, Ed, and myself decided to split up the work and break into genres. I was assigned Rock and Pop and began working on my task. Theby came into the office a little after noon to ask how the job was going and suggested a few tunes to keep on file. Kellan and Ed left a little after 1, but I stuck around and continue working on finding new songs until I had heard enough.
Today, Kellan and I moved all the SOAR equipment back into the storage closet from the Intern office. Theby had us throw out any damaged and expired drinks and sent us outside to clean out the coolers to try and remove the stench that was coming from the coolers. When we got back to the office from moving everything around, Theby requested that we start working on a music project for the week. He asked us to search to find new music to play at athletic events to replace the outdated files they have been using for the past five years. This became our project for the rest of the week. We got a few weird look with some of the songs we were playing, but hey who doesn’t like listening to a good tune to pass the time at work!
After a long and tedious month, we walked into the student union for the final day of SOAR. We sold six memberships today and connected with another twenty members. All in all, we sold just over 100 memberships and made connections with another 300-plus student during out time at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. It was a fun experience and helped me grow as a salesman in the process. At the end of the day, we packed up the gear into my truck and moved all the equipment back to the office and put it into the intern office for the weekend.
This morning I headed into the office to enter new names into our excel file for Fanatics members and to figure out where we were missing money from. After discovering that we missed adding a name to the list, I added the missing name to the file and sent it to Theby to solve the missing money trail. At noon, I headed over to the student union for another day selling memberships. We sold only three memberships today and only connected with another ten potential clients. It was fairly obvious that the vast majority of interested students had come to the earlier orientation days so we left around 2 p.m. as no one else was around or approaching the table.
After a much needed holiday break, we headed back to the office for a work day. Theby had all the summer interns meet with him to go over our projects we had worked on this summer and clarified details as to what he was looking for, what he needed changed, and how to create the graphs. David then gave me all the documents he had received from the other interns to peer edit them before he reviewed them. I made suggestions and added some changed to improve the Women’s Soccer Plan, the sports checklists, and the Women’s Basketball plan before sending them to Theby for his review and approval.
Before heading off for SOAR today, I went over to the Sebo Center to collect the leftover drinks I forgot to get from yesterday. I also restocked the Athletic Director and Administrators fridges to accommodate their requests and let Theby know to have a case of water sent to the main desk. Around noon, I headed over to the student union for another day selling Falcon Fanatics Memberships. We sold eleven memberships and connected with about fifteen other students during our day today. We packed everything up for the holiday weekend and went back to the office to drop off an empty cooler that we no longer needed. We all wished each other a safe holiday weekend and headed home to enjoy a much needed five day break.
This morning I arrived at 11 a.m. to gather drinks to take over to the Sebo Center for another faculty meeting. I dropped the drinks off outside the conference room before leaving for another day at SOAR. We sold another nine memberships today to incoming students and conversed with another twenty-five perspective clients. Several people signed up for the club because they heard from their friends about the fan club and wanted to be a part of something with their friends. It was nice to see that our sales spiked because of our hard work and dedication. At 2:30 p.m. we packed up our gear and put it back into storage and headed home for the day.
Today was another day spent down at the student union. We sold seven memberships today and connected with another fifteen potential clients while working at SOAR. This was a slow day for us as several of the incoming students have already come to orientation.
Today was the final day of SOAR for the week, so it was another busy day talking with students. We only managed to sell five memberships today, but we were able to connect with twenty students who seemed very interested in join the club. We packed up after three short hours of work and headed home for the weekend.
Once again, we spent SOAR inside today. This was one of our busiest days to date as we sold twelve memberships and connected with another forty potential members. We answered questions about what the OSU/BGSU raffle guaranteed them and directed them to the webpage where they could purchase a raffle ticket for $5 each. At the end of the day, we turned in membership dues to the Ticketing Office and sent them an updated version of the Falcon Fanatics Excel file so the new members could be added to the organization database.
Today was another day spent selling Falcon Fanatics memberships at SOAR. We decided to move our table so that way we were next to the Ticketing table. We sold eight memberships today and connected with another thirty potential clients in three short hours. While we were there, Kellan and I discussed how we got started in sports and what we want to achieve out of our internship. We also talked about the recent NBA news and the Derrick Rose trade reshaping the NBA landscape.
Today was a day spent back in the office. It was a fairly slow day as we didn’t have much to work on since no sports are on-campus with it being summer break. Theby arrived back from vacation and asked us how SOAR was going. We provided him with the list of our new members and sent those over to the ticketing office. He asked us to give a mock-interview with him acting as a client. He suggested ideas on how to entice students to buy a membership and then left for some meetings. I caught up on some paperwork around the office and spent the rest of the time working on updating my website with my experiences to date since he had nothing else for me to work on.
Today was another day spent working at SOAR; however, this time we spent the day inside due to the inclement weather. We connected with fifty students and managed to sell memberships to ten of them. After seeing our sales spike by staying inside, we made the executive decision to continue selling inside for the remaining SOAR dates. We also were able to answer students’ questions easier by directing and ticketing questions to the ticketing table next to us. We packed up around 2:30 p.m. and headed home for the weekend as there were no more SOAR dates for the week and Theby was still on vacation.
Over the weekend, Kellan sent me a list of all the new members they sold memberships to on Friday, so I entered those names into an excel file this morning. There were twenty names on the list, so I sent the list off to David to send to ticketing to have them uploaded into the organizational database. Kellan helped me load additional drinks into a cooler to hand out to our clients and we headed over to the student union to put them into the storage closet. After lunch, we headed back to the Intern Office and organized it to compensate for the new shipment of bandanas and shirts to be used for the first Volleyball game. David was out of the office again today, but requested that Kellan and I help Ed with the Men’s Soccer Marketing Plan as he was missing some charts and attendance numbers to finalize the plan. Afterwards, I searched for new promotional ideas online and send those ideas off to Theby before leaving for the day.
